Problem
When multiple cars are traveling together it is often difficult to stay together and coordinate stops. Common navigation apps do not allow users to communicate directly with each other. The current solution of utilizing group chats can often become overwhelming and disorganized.
Solution
How can we create a solution that allows friends and family on a road trip together to stay in-touch and communicate in a fun and enjoyable way?
Live location tracking of multiple vehicles
Create polls to coordinate stops
Easily allow users to request rest stops
Discovery & Research
Competitive Analysis
An evaluation of existing navigation apps was performed in order to determine which aspects and features worked to solve the client’s main concerns and goals. AR app PokemonGo was analyzed for its gamification of the real-world and ability for users to collect souvenirs from sites and attractions.
A survey was conducted in order to discover specific patterns, needs, and frustrations during users’ experiences taking a road trip. I also sought to discover who users traveled with, what went into planning a trip, and how users determined where to stop along their journey.
User Survey
Users travel together.
43%
Forty-three percent of travelers make a flexible itinerary of sites/stops before departing.
Common stops include: Gas Stations, Restaurants, Attractions, & Rest Areas.
